What were you doing before this traineeship?

I studied BA Society, Culture and Media Studies at the University of East Anglia and graduated in 2014. After that I worked at a local primary school, with children who had special educational needs. I have also worked for various charities, including Oxfam, Age UK and the NSPCC, where I was the community fundraising intern for Suffolk, Essex and North London.

What has been your favourite part of the traineeship so far?

I have really enjoyed being part of the Supplementary Schools project as it enables me to put into practice my past experience of working with children, particularly those who have English as an additional language. We work alongside the British Academy Schools Language Awards to teach children about museum roles, objects, storage and exhibitions. We also assisted with organising an event for the children to celebrate the work they had produced. Also, anything to do with the Natural History collections has been great fun too as I love taxidermy and anything preserved in a jar!

5. Favourite animal?

Elephants or Sun Bears.
